Skeletor Laser-Light of the World!

Skeletor Laser-Light of the World!

Laser-Light Skeletor, the “Evil Master of Light Energy,” was produced in both Italy and Spain. The figure features a battery-operated light mechanism that illuminates its glove and eyes when the arm is raised. Accessories include a cloth cape, translucent Havoc Staff, and battery pack.

Initial production began in Italy in 1988. Both the figure and the staff are marked “ITALY.” The Italian release is best recognized by its reddish-orange translucent parts — particularly the glove and staff — along with warm, matte bronze highlights. The belt is a brick-red color that commonly develops darkening or fading over time. The face features bright yellow paint applications over a sage-green base, while the cape is purple with light purple stitching.

The molds were later transferred to Spain, where production launched in March 1989 during the final phase of the Congost era. Although the Spanish release also bears “ITALY” markings, several distinct color differences separate it from the earlier Italian version. The translucent parts are a deeper dark red rather than reddish-orange, and the bronze highlights appear darker, glossier, and more pronounced. The belt is a rich, intense dark red. The cape exists in two known variants: a lighter purple version and a darker bluish-purple version. Both feature dark purple stitching, unlike the lighter stitching found on the Italian release. The face paint application remains bright yellow, but is applied over a darker green base.

Because of its limited production run, Laser-Light Skeletor remains one of the most sought-after vintage Masters of the Universe figures among collectors attempting to complete their collections. For variant collectors, the challenge is even greater, as both the Italian and Spanish releases are highly desirable additions.
