Extendar of the World!

Extendar, the “heroic master of extension” was produced in Hong Kong, India and Spain. This robotic, knight-like figure extends its limbs and head, and comes with a folding shield that also extends out.

All 3 produced figures have the same markings (© Mattel. Inc. 1985) on the back, and on the shield. They differ primarily in the colors. The Leo is a dark metallic with copper highlights. The Hong Kong has a light gray body, with copper highlights that tend to turn green. The Spain has ivory white colors, with gold-copper highlights that are brighter than the Hong Kong.

Both the Spain and the HK share the same functionality. The arms, legs and head extend manually. The Leo, on the other hand, has a spring activated head and torso!! The arms and legs on the Leo extend manually as well.

The shields are very similar, except for subtle color differences. The Hong Kong is a bright red, similar to other reds accessories tones seen in other HK accessories. The Spain is very dark red, and more opaque. The Leo is somewhere in the middle, more opaque than the HK, but not nearly as dark as the Spain. Mine have different batch numbers (HK 1, Spain 2, Leo 4) but I suspect there was different batch numbers even within the same COOs, so I can't be sure this is a reliable way to ID them just on number alone.

Which one is your favorite? What are the batch numbers on your own extender variant shields?
