Whiplash

SUMMARY:
The Rotoplast Whiplash can be identified primarily by its mid-green or emerald green hair and face highlights, dark purple shorts with a mid-orange belt, and dark blue boots. The head can be either bright lime or muted yellow, and the skin tones are usually matte, light green, or glossy, mid-green colors. The matte light green arms are semi-flexible rubber, while the mid-green appears to be a much harder plastic.

The figure is marked © MATTEL. INC. 1983, the light orange, rigid plastic spear is marked © MATTEL. INC. 1981, and the rifle (yes, this figure came with 2 weapons!) is marked HONG KONG. The rifle came in many different hues between red and orange. All are rubbery and flexible, yet some are more so than others. 

There are multiple variations on this figure, starting with the inverted eye paint variant. The common Whiplash has a lime green mask around the eye and black eyebrows, while the inverted eye paint version has a black mask around the eye and green eyebrows. This figure is frequently referred to as the “KISS” variant and can be found with either a red belt or a standard orange belt. 

Another much rarer variation on this figure is the “dark” Whiplash. This figure uses Kobra Khan (very rubbery) dark arms, Kobra Khan mold boots also in dark green, with boots painted in dark purple. It comes in 2 shorts versions. The standard shorts (dark purple shorts with mid-orange or mid-yellow belt) or the He-Man shorts (red shorts with mustard belt).

Another rare variation of this figure has been found, which has light purple boots, black shorts with a red belt!
