SUMMARY:

Teela, the “warrior goddess,” was produced in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mexico (Aurimat), Argentina (Top Toys), Venezuela (Rotoplast), Brazil (Estrela), Spain, and India (Leo). Teela has a spring-loaded waist that swings back with a power punch, a snake harness, a shield, and a staff.

The Hong Kong Teela features bronze armor highlights over an off-white bodysuit, light tan skin tones in the same color as the Taiwan He-Man, red to brown hair and boots, and opaque, reddish-brown accessories. The figure is marked either © M.I. 1981 or © MATTEL, INC. 1981 behind the neck. The Harness is marked © MATTEL, INC. 1981 HONG KONG, the shield marked HONG KONG, and the staff is unmarked.

The Hong Kong Teela has several variations from one figure to the next. For starters, boots can be bright red, mid-red, mid-brown, or dark brown. The hair can also come in those shades and will not necessarily match the boots in any particular figure.

The face can also have several variations. The pupils can be applied in a thicker pupil paint or in a fine, symmetrical dot. The lips can be pink or red. The eyeliner tends to match the hair color and can be in several shades and shapes.

The accessories came in either a pale brown or a darker reddish brown. The shield can be similar in mold to Taiwan (except for the HONG KONG markings and the SKU numbers), but it can also have a heavy ridge on the inside. The HONG KONG can be at the top with the SKU numbers at the bottom, or vice versa. The staff can be blank or can have a 6-batch number. The harness can be blank or have an 8-batch number. Likely, the accessories with batch numbers were later released, often with motu accessories.
