Zodac

Zodac, the “cosmic enforcer,” was produced in Taiwan, Mexico (Aurimat), Argentina (Top Toys), Venezuela (Rotoplast), Brazil (Estrela), Spain, France, and India (Leo). It has a spring-loaded waist that swings back with a power punch and comes with a harness and a blaster.

The Aurimat Zodac can be identified by its pale skin, dark gray and red helmet tones (soft head), and opaque, dark red, semi-rigid accessories. The figure was released separately for each of the three years of Los Amos del Universo production (1984-1986), and all three have minor differences, primarily in the right-hand mold.

All releases are marked © Mattel. Inc. 1981 MEXICO on the figure, © Mattel. Inc. 1982 MEXICO on the harness and MEXICO on the gun.

The first release (1984) is marked © Mattel. Inc. 1981, and it has a pronounced ridge in the right hand for better weapons handling. The second release (1985) is marked the same but has a somewhat less pronounced ridge in the right hand. The third release (1986) no longer has a ridge in the hand.

A distinct third wave exists as well. This figure has a more vivid, cherry red helmet, has a ridge on the right hand, and comes with the rare MEXICO-marked, orange pistol.
