Initially released in the second year of the Los Amos del Universo production (1985), Trap Jaw uses the French mold. While it's marked © Mattel Inc 1981, it's marked FRANCE on the mechanical gun, and all attachments are marked FRANCE. The belt has the COO marking brushed off. The face is a green neon, the helmet is a dark burgundy, and the jaw is oversized. The face has very sharp, robotic-like features.
The following year (1986) Trap Jaw was released using Malaysia molds. The figure is now marked © MATTEL INC 1981 MALAYSIA, the belt is marked MALAYSIA, and all the attachments are marked MALAYSIA. The helmet and shorts are a much brighter burgundy, and the arm for this release uses the Man-e-Faces mold! This figure was released with a glow ring marked MALAYSIA, but does not glow in the dark. The face on this release has more human-like features.
On occasion, the 1985 release is found with the 1986 MEF-molded arm. It's unclear if this is an arm swap, or if the arm mold legitimately was released this way.
