Man-at-Arms

The Spain Man-at-Arms is characterized by a celeste (baby blue) helmet with light yellow highlights, a soft head, muted colors, light green skin tones, and pale yellow accessories.

The first edition, produced by Congost and released in 1984, can be identified by the back marking © Mattel. Inc. 1981. The figure is referred to as “Congost” because the logo appears on the packaging. This edition features black leg bands.

The second edition dropped the Congost logo from the card and updated the country-of-origin stamp to SPAIN. All other details—including colors, accessories, and overall appearance—remained the same as the first edition.

The third edition, considered a reedition, was produced using the France molds. While the colors remained similar, the COO stamp changed to MADE IN FRANCE, and all accessories were updated to French molds. The harness, leg, and arm armor now carry FRANCE markings, while the club remains unmarked. Notably, the armor includes an arm cuff, a feature characteristic of the France Man-at-Arms. Only the France, India Black Boot, and Spain Reedition figures share this arm cuff mold. This edition also features clear, translucent leg bands.

It’s noteworthy that the molds produced in 1983 (sold in 1984) and 1984 (sold in 1985) were in Spain for roughly three months of production before being sent to Venezuela and Brazil. This is why some figures are marked SPAIN while others from Brazil are unmarked. Despite some variations in accessory molds, all three harnesses share a large, oversized clasp with three wide, notched straps—reflecting the Spain mold that was later shipped to Venezuela and Brazil.
