SUMMARY
The Spain Rattlor was released in two distinct variations: a Spain-marked standard version, typically associated with Taiwan-style tooling and subtle tail injection points, and a Malaysia-marked reissue that uses the Malaysia/Hong Kong tooling with more pronounced tail injection points.
The Spain-marked figure features a mid-dark red body, a light mustard-colored belt with a dark green snake emblem, and light yellow chest paint. It is marked © MATTEL INC. 1985 SPAIN on the body. Its weapon is also marked © MATTEL INC. 1985 with the country-of-origin designation removed. Depending on production batch, the weapon can be found in either rigid hard plastic or a softer, more flexible rubber-like material.
The Malaysia-marked version represents a later reissue produced toward the end of the Spain run. It retains the brick-red body but features a light brown belt, dark green snake emblem, a flexible tail, and a bright pink mouth detail. The weapon is rigid, brick red, and marked © MATTEL INC. 1985 MALAYSIA. Notably, the trigger button is also brick red, distinguishing it from the orange trigger button found on the standard Malaysia Rattlor release.
