SUMMARY
India produced two distinct Teela variants.
The first variant is characterized by pale skin tones, muted gold highlights, purplish hair and boots, and molded nipples on the breasts. This detail is significant, since the original Mattel sculpts included nipples that were later removed before the U.S. release. Only the Indian and Venezuelan figures retained this early sculpt. The accessories are soft, light red, and marked with a 2-batch number. The harness carries its part number in the center of the back, and the inner helmet section includes notches to better fit the figure’s head. These notches are identical to the Rotoplast Teela harness. The paint on the boots stops midway up the fur, giving them a distinct cutoff line.
The second variant, based on the Hong Kong mold, features bright gold highlights, tanned skin tones, and dark red hair and boots. This version is marked MATTEL INC 1981 behind the neck, and like the first variant, the boot paint ends at the mid-fur line. Its accessories follow the Hong Kong mold but with slight changes: the shield is marked 5045-2249 with a scratched-off COO, the harness is marked © MATTEL, INC. 1981 8 with the COO scratched off, and the staff is marked with a 6.
