SUMMARY:
The Hong Kong Dragon Blaster is characterized by its hard plastic head, sharp yellow face paint, no lines between the eyes, and dark blue boots. The figure is marked either © MATTEL, INC. 1981 (uppercase) or © Mattel, Inc. 1981 (lowercase).
The armor is light purple, marked © MATTEL, INC. 1984 (front) along with a SKU 9017-2059 A and a batch no. that can be between R1-R8. It has a circular cutout on the interior back armor.
The dragon is red and can vary considerably in the purple spray paint (subtle, to very heavy and dark). The mouth of the dragon is typically red, but on occasion could be white as well. Curiously, the HK Dragon has a batch no. (7 or 8 for example) behind the head. The front armor has an SKU 9017-2069 + Batch no F1-F8.
Both the chain and lock are unmarked and should match in color. The chain has a rectangular end link that connects to the cuff. The lock has a flexible lock shackle, that is flat at the tip.
The sword is male (like a He-Man sword), and is marked 5042-2259.
There are 2 figure variations. The figure COO marked in uppercase or the figure COO marked in lowercase.
