SUMMARY:
Clawful, the "warrior with the grip of evil!", was produced in Hong Kong, Mexico (Aurimat), Argentina, Venezuela, France, Spain, and India.
The Top Toys Clawful can be identified by its bright, shiny plastic, hard, plastic head, and bright, vibrant red colors. The skin tone is a caramel color, and the figure uses a big body torso marked © MATTEL INC 1981 with round arm pegs. The light red armor has light brown highlights and is marked with a single-digit batch number on the inside (front and back) such as 3 or 8.
There are two notable variations in this figure. The first is the consistency of the arms. The standard TT Clawful has fairly rigid (rubber-like) limbs. There is a much less common version of this figure that came with much gummier, flexible rubber limbs.
The second notable variation in the figure is the mold color of the shorts. The common shorts were molded in red. There are variations on the shorts molded in black, maroon, or lilac, that are then painted red.
Lastly, the standard weapon is light green, semi-rigid, unmarked, and has a ring right below the handle. A rare later-release variant of the weapon does not have the ring, is very rigid, and is essentially the same mold as the Fuerza T maces.
