SUMMARY:
Clawful, the "warrior with the grip of evil!", was produced in Hong Kong, Mexico (Aurimat), Argentina, Venezuela, France, Spain, and India.
The Leo India Clawful can be identified by its semi-hard rubber head molded in brown, unpainted claw, dark blue boots and belt, and caramel-brown skin tones. The figure is marked © MATTEL INC. 1981 INDIA, the back of the armor is marked INDIA, and the dark green, rigid mace has a batch number 5 (reversed).
The armor comes in 2 variants. Bright red armor, with dark brown painted stripes, or dark red armor, with blue painted stripes.
The head is usually unpainted (aside from the facial features) and is either a flesh color or a slightly reddish-brown tint. Still, a few examples of Leo Clawful have surfaced with painted heads. On those, the head is still molded in a flesh tone, but the head is painted red.
